TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, April 26, 2021 – O’Neal Webster is pleased to announce that its managing partner, Vanessa King, was recognized by peers in the BVI financial services industry as 2020’s “Lawyer of the Year.” The Financial Services Awards, launched by BVI Finance in 2019, highlight the achievements and accomplishments of firms and leaders in the BVI financial services industry each year. The awards are intended to inspire and promote the highest international standards in the jurisdiction and acknowledge all who contribute to making the BVI an international financial centre of excellence.

From the earliest days of her BVI legal career, Ms. King has been involved in professional, charitable, environmental, and pro bono activities. Over the years, she has ascended to various leadership roles. Currently, Ms. King is the deputy chair on the BVI Financial Services Commission Appeals Board and chairs the Caribbean and Latin America Region of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She is also the chair of the BVI branch of STEP and sits on the STEP Caribbean Conference Steering Committee.
In the community, Vanessa volunteers her time to many initiatives and sits on the Green VI Ltd. Board of Directors and is the deputy chair of the Board of Trustees for Cedar International School.
In 2016, Vanessa was the global recipient of STEP’s ninth annual Founder’s Award. She is recognized as a leading attorney by major international legal ranking bodies, including Chambers Global, Legal500, IFLR1000, and Citywealth Magazine.
The Financial Services Awards ceremony, organized and presented by BVI Finance, was a virtual celebration held on March 28, 2021, honoring 18 award recipients. The event was broadcast locally and on the BVI Finance Facebook Page.
