Paul Dennis to Speak at STEP 2019 Caribbean Conference

News

As confidentiality continues to play a more significant role in global business operations and regulatory requirements focus on transparency, many questions regarding how to balance these opposing issues are left unanswered.

On Tuesday, May 14th, O’Neal Webster Senior Partner Paul Dennis, QC, will illuminate the topic in a presentation on “The Right to Confidentiality vs. The Imperative of Compliance – A Case Study” at the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioner’s 20th annual 2019 Caribbean Conference in Nassau, Bahamas. In his talk, Mr. Dennis will examine the collision between an individual’s right to privacy and confidentiality on the one hand, and the regulatory imperative for the disclosure of the individual’s confidential information, on the other.

More particularly, his session will examine recent court decisions that provide a road map for the balance which must be struck between these two competing interests, with the BVI case of Magnum & Niteroi v. AG of the Virgin Islands at the centre of that analysis.

STEP 2019 Caribbean Conference will be held May 12-14 at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, One Baha Mar Boulevard Nassau N.P, Bahamas.
