BIOGRAPHY

Koya Ryan is an Associate in O’Neal Webster’s Litigation Department, where she maintains a developing practice focused on civil, commercial, insolvency, and cross-border disputes. She brings to the firm a strong background in judicial research and analysis, having previously served as Judicial Research Counsel to judges at both the High Court and appellate levels of the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago.

In that role, Koya advised on a wide range of matters, including civil, commercial, insolvency, arbitration, property, family, constitutional, and public law cases. This experience provided her with a deep understanding of judicial reasoning and procedure, which she now applies to help clients and colleagues develop effective, well-reasoned litigation strategies.

Koya approaches client service with precision and care, emphasizing responsiveness, professionalism, and a commitment to advancing clients’ interests. Clients and colleagues describe her as meticulous and dependable, appreciating the thoroughness she brings to every matter, regardless of complexity.

Her recent work includes contributing to an ongoing multi-billion-dollar cross-border dispute involving digital assets and assisting a corporate client in securing a favourable settlement in a significant employment matter.

Koya holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Dispute Resolution (Merit) from Queen Mary University of London, a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from the Eugene Dupuch Law School, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics and International Relations from the University of the West Indies.

She is admitted to practice in Trinidad and Tobago and the British Virgin Islands.

Koya has received several academic awards, including multiple Council Prizes and distinctions from the Eugene Dupuch Law School for academic excellence and outstanding performance.

Outside of legal practice, Koya enjoys dance, visual arts, music, and cooking. She values creative expression and believes that a sense of humour helps maintain balance and perspective, even on the busiest days.
