March 28, 2022 – TORTOLA – O’Neal Webster is pleased to announce that Chambers and Partners has recognized O’Neal Webster Partner Dan Wise in the 2022 edition of its Global Guide for his exceptional work in British Virgin Islands dispute resolution matters. Often referred to as “the gold-standard,” Chambers guides deliver insight and analysis on the global legal profession that is unrivalled in its reach and depth. Ranked individuals are assessed by a team of researchers and analysts for certain criteria related to technical legal ability, client service, depth of team, commercial vision and business understanding, diligence, and value.
Chambers found Mr. Wise to be “well versed in assisting with the enforcement of arbitral awards, as well as representing clients in unfair prejudice proceedings, fraud claims and trust litigation.” Client feedback reported to researchers highlighted his responsive and straightforward approach, adding that “He provided clear instructions and was very transparent about the costs parameters he was working under. He entirely understood the commercial issues of the matter as well as the legal points that arose.”
In his practice, Mr. Wise has a wealth of accumulated experience and knowledge in resolving complex, contentious commercial matters, usually of a cross border nature, including those involving an element of fraud. He also advises clients in commercial and regulatory matters, including business insolvency and asset recovery, and frequently represents BVI companies in shareholder disputes and other complex problems.
His litigation and trial work cover a range of international matters for clients in London and the British Virgin Islands, as well as the wider Eastern Caribbean. He possesses particular expertise in obtaining offshore disclosure orders and in assisting in 28 USC s.1782 discovery applications in aid of litigation abroad. Recently, Mr. Wise obtained freezing order relief against “Persons Unknown,” ancillary to main proceedings abroad, in which allegations of theft of a significant quantity of cryptocurrency had been made.
Mr. Wise is admitted to practice in England and Wales, the British Virgin Islands, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He is a member and a two-term past First Vice President of the BVI Bar Association and a member of the Law Society of England and Wales. He is “recommended” in Who’s Who Legal for his work in global asset recovery. Learn more about Mr. Wise here.
